Maltitol syrup, with a high (75%) concentration, is a low calorie sweetener alternative to sugar. Derived from the hydrogenation of maltose, maltitol syrup is used to replace sugar in candy products, chewing gum, baked goods, and ice cream.

Application
Maltitol syrup acts as a sweetener in the baking industry, confections,  beverages, ice cream and dairy products, jams and preserves, nutritional bars and cereals, sauces and dressings and more. It also contributes to texture and moisture content making it especially useful for products like cakes, pastries, cookies, chewing gums, chocolates, creamy dairy products, and more. It’s high boiling point make it suitable for both a sweetening and thickening agent for gelatinous products like jams.

Formulation
Often found in low sugar or “no added sugar” formaulations, maltitol syrup adds sweetness to products while keeping caloric intake low. It is stable under a wide range of processing conditions including high temperatures and varying pH levels and also acts as a humectant to prolong the shelf life of products.
