Mannitol

What is Mannitol?

Mannitol is a type of sugar alcohol, also known as a polyol, that is commonly used as a sweetener. It is naturally found in various fruits & vegetables, such as mushrooms, onions, and sweet potatoes.

In the food industry, mannitol is often used as a sugar substitute in sugar-free and reduced-calorie products, including candies, chewing gum, and diabetic-friendly foods. It has about 60-70% of the sweetness of sucrose (table sugar) but with fewer calories.
