AIFI Statement on FDA Ban of FD&C Red No. 3
At AIFI, we are committed to compliance with all regulatory guidelines and the highest standards of food & beverage ingredient safety.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ruled that effective January 15, 2027 (for use in food applications) or January 18, 2028 (for use in ingested drugs), the use of FD&C Red No. 3 will no longer be permitted for use in food and ingested drugs, and manufacturers using FD&C Red No. 3 must reformulate their products.
We are monitoring the situation as it unfolds. American International provides several FD&C Red No. 3 ingredient alternatives and replacements to aid manufacturers in reformulating their products. If you have any questions regarding FD&C Red No. 3 or alternatives for reformulation, please reach out to your sales representative or contact us using the below form.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this transition.
