Product Specification

A Product Specification Sheet provides information on the physical and chemical characteristics of the ingredient, such as its color, odor, taste, and texture.

Certificate of Analysis (COA)

A COA verifies that the ingredient meets regulatory standards for quality, safety, and compliance.

Country of Origin (CO)

A country of origin certificate (also referred to as a certificate of origin or CO) provides traceability of the requested ingredient back to the specific country where it was produced or manufactured.

GFSI Audit Certificate (Global Food Safety Initiative)

Verification of a manufacturing facility’s compliance with GFSI-recognized food safety (e.g., SQF)

Safety Data Sheet (SDS)

A document providing safety information about the handling, storing, and transporting of an ingredient or ingredients.

GMO Status Statement

A GMO statement provides information on whether a product is produced using genetic modification or contains ingredients derived from GMOs (genetically modified organisms).

Kosher & Halal Certification

Certification that verifies an ingredient meets the dietary requirements for those who adhere to Jewish (kosher) or Islamic (halal) diets.

Organic Certificate & Organic Summary

Certification confirming compliance by ingredient production companies with organic farming/processing standards.

Gluten-Free Certificate or Statement

Confirmation of an ingredient being “gluten-free” (free from gluten-containing grains such as barley, wheat, and rye). The typical standard is <20 ppm.

Proposition 65 Statement (California Proposition 65)

Declaration of whether an ingredient contains any chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Allergen & Sensitivity Matrix

Lists any known allergies as well as potential cross-contamination that is present in an ingredient or a facility.
